I’m a writer/editor/social media strategist/entrepreneur with a strong background in both journalism and PR and a heavy focus on the digital space, interested in consulting opportunities.
I am owner and editor-in-chief of Gimundo.com, a website dedicated to good news, which receives over 400,000 unique visitors a month and is ranked in the top 30,000 sites on Alexa.com. I’ve built up traffic solely through content partnerships, earned media (including mentions in The Washington Post, the UK’s The Independent, and The Seattle Times), SEO optimization, backlinks, and social media traffic from sites like StumbleUpon, Digg, Facebook, and Twitter, as well as managing a daily email newsletter which goes out to over 8,500 subscribers. Since my husband and I purchased the site from its original owners in May 2009 (for whom I previously worked as the site’s editor), we have been solely responsible for the site: he has designed and developed it and manages daily art needs, and I oversee and create content, social media, and other online marketing strategies.
Additionally, I recently held a year-long full-time contract position as content editor and social media strategist for Razoo.com, a web platform for online charitable donations; and I have worked as a social media and editorial consultant for websites including TuttiFoodie.com, EcoSalon.com, and MyCollegeGuide.org. I’ve also written for magazines and high-traffic websites including GOOD, US Airways, Wildlife Conservation, and Chow.com.
